Remaining compliant in 2026 requires more than just a job offer. With real-time HMRC data sharing, even small oversights can lead to visa cancellations.

1. Financial & Salary Thresholds

  • Minimum Salary Check: Ensure your annual salary is at least £41,700 for standard Skilled Worker roles.

  • New Entrant Rate: If you are switching from a Student visa and are under 26, confirm you meet the £30,960 (or 70% of the going rate) threshold.

  • Monthly Pay Consistency: Confirm your monthly payslip never dips below the monthly equivalent of your CoS salary. UKVI now monitors salary per pay period.

  • Maintenance Funds: Have at least £1,270 in your bank account for 28 consecutive days, unless your sponsor has certified maintenance on your CoS.

2. English Language & Documentation

  • B2 Level Proficiency: For new switches in 2026, ensure you have proof of English at CEFR Level B2. Your UK degree certificate is typically sufficient.

  • CoS Accuracy: Verify that your Certificate of Sponsorship lists the correct SOC 2020 occupation code and matches RQF Level 6 or above.

  • The eVisa Link: Ensure your UKVI account is linked to your current Indian passport. Update this digitally if you have renewed your passport recently.

3. Reporting & Workplace Duties

  • Change of Circumstances: Report any change in work location or job title to your HR team within 10 working days.

  • Contact Details: Keep your UK address and phone number updated on your UKVI digital profile at all times.

  • Absence Tracking: Unauthorised absences of more than 10 consecutive working days must be reported by your sponsor to the Home Office.

  • Criminal Record Certificate: For roles in health or education, ensure you have an up-to-date certificate from India for any 12-month residence in the last 10 years.

  • ATAS Certificate: If your role involves sensitive research, check if you require an Academic Technology Approval Scheme certificate before starting work.
